On Sunday January 31, 2021 the Myanmar military began to seize power and control of the country as they arrested elected civilian government leaders. This was followed by the military's declaration of a year-long state of emergency. Since that day reports estimate at least 12,000 people have been killed, not only protestors but civilians as well (BBC, 2022). We beleive this number is vastly underestimated at this point, as we continue to receive reports of homes being destroyed and civilians trying to help each other being killed in the process. The violence has gotten worse every day with the military policing the streets, invading peaceful villages, and heavily monitoring the internet.
