Saramati Hall
Saramati Hall
Home Sponsorship
Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma)
This home is located in Yangon, Burma, a poor and underdeveloped region of the country that is predominantly Buddhist. There is, however, a growing number of Christians in this region. The home was started to care for impoverished children of this area and prepare them to be future leaders in their country.
Many of the children at this home have come from the Naga people, a tribal group with beliefs in animism. As the Word of God has spread through the tribes, interest in sending children to this Christian home and school has grown. Families can not pay for their children to stay at the home, though. These kids are given the opportunity to learn about Jesus and will create lasting change in this area.
Support: Winner Educare Center is not fully supported. Monthly support is needed.
Finances to continue to be able to use gas for cooking, heating, etc.
Currently, ten young people live in the two dorms that make up Saramati Hall. They are all well, safe, and attending school daily. Every morning, they have breakfast at home and then take a boxed lunch to school. After school, they participate in recreational activities back at the home. Then, as most of them are older, they cook their own evening meals. This helps to prepare them for life once they have completed school and are no longer in the home. All ten are active at their local church, participating in Sunday worship and the youth group.
Please pray for the following:
- that electricity will be brought to this area. All their cooking is done with gas or wood, both costly.
- for the health of all the children, as the flu is a concern for all the children during this season.
- that God would provide more donors as the cost of everything has doubled or tripled in the last two years.
- the safety of all the young people and their caregivers as the ongoing war in Burma affects all their lives.
Monthly Home Sponsors
Monthly sponsors commit to donating $35/month* to help provide basic necessities such as housing, food and education for all of the children living there. This model differs from child sponsorship in order to ensure that every child in the home receives the support they need. It also helps with promoting a sense of family in the home, as some of the children have no other family and see the kids they live with just like brothers and sisters.
*This is a suggested amount; for Home sponsorships you can customize the amount on the donation form if $35 is not the right amount for your situation. Any amount is a blessing!
Through Vision Beyond Borders, you can partner directly with Gospel-centered homes that we help support. Though VBB does not directly oversee these homes, we partner with ministries that are doing this work in their own countries. With this sponsorship, you are not only able to help with the daily needs of the homes, you are ensuring that more children in desperate situations will have a place to call home.
